AI TRENDS | Musk Says AI and Robots Could Double the Global Economy in Under 10 Years

Elon Musk said that once humanoid robots are mass-produced, Anthropic's most extreme AI growth scenario could become reality. According to Sina Finance, he said the economic transformation from combining artificial intelligence with physical automation would extend beyond knowledge work. On Wednesday, Musk commented on a Polymarket post about Anthropic's economic scenario tool, saying, "Once humanoid robots are mass-produced, this will definitely become reality." The post cited Anthropic's extreme model, which assumes annual U.S. GDP growth of about 15% and an economy that doubles every 4.5 years. Anthropic said the scenario is only a conditional assumption, not a forecast. Under those assumptions, the company estimated that U.S. GDP could reach $44.4 trillion in 2030, 32.4% above a no-AI baseline scenario. It also estimated labor compensation would fall from about 60% of total output to 45.2%, while capital returns would rise to 54.8%. Anthropic said the model has one major limitation: it does not include a scenario involving "super-capable robots." Musk's remarks came as Tesla seeks to extend artificial intelligence into physical work through its Optimus robot. Musk also posted a broader prediction on Wednesday, saying, "AI + robots will more than double the size of the global economy in less than 10 years."
