Block Agrees to $45 Million Settlement Over Cash App Fraud Claims

Block Inc. agreed to pay $45 million to settle claims from 46 states over Cash App fraud protections. According to NS3.AI, the states said Block knew scams were increasing but continued marketing the app. The agreement requires Block to stop making deceptive safety claims and improve customer support. It also supports a separate Consumer Financial Protection Bureau deal that is expected to return $75 million to $120 million to consumers.
