According to CNBC, OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, a large language model released last Thursday, is drawing strong interest on Wall Street and lifting shares tied to the company. Artificial Analysis said Astra is an improvement over earlier OpenAI models, but trails products from Meta Platforms and Anthropic; it also said Astra matches OpenAI's July model in raw power while offering significant cost-efficiency gains versus Anthropic's comparable model. Ben Reitzes of Melius Research said the launch shows OpenAI is “so back” and that its semis and hardware group can keep rallying, naming Arista, AMD and Broadcom as key beneficiaries and saying Oracle, Microsoft and CoreWeave are the cloud names that benefit most. Jefferies tracks stocks most closely linked to OpenAI, and several of the largest names on that list have outperformed the S&P 500 since Astra debuted last week. Reitzes also called Micron Technology an obvious beneficiary of the latest frontier LLMs, alongside SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics.
