STOCKS | Clover Biopharmaceuticals-B Reports Positive Phase II Data For Respiratory Vaccine Candidates

Clover Biopharmaceuticals-B (02197) said its respiratory vaccine candidates SCB-1022 (RSV+hMPV) and SCB-1033 (RSV+hMPV+PIV3) produced positive preliminary data in a Phase II trial in older adults in Australia, according to ETNet. The randomized, observer-blinded, multicentre study enrolled 420 volunteers aged 60 to 85 who received SCB-1022, SCB-1033 or placebo. Twenty-eight days after vaccination, mean neutralising antibody titers for RSV and hMPV rose by about 6 to 9 times and 6 to 8 times, respectively, while PIV3 neutralising antibodies increased by more than 3 times. In participants aged 75 and above, no weakening of antibody response was observed, and the added PIV3 antigen did not interfere with RSV or hMPV immunity. The company said the incidence of respiratory infections within 28 days after vaccination was about 62% lower in the vaccine groups than in the placebo group. It added that both candidates were generally well tolerated, with no vaccine-related serious adverse events reported. Clover Biopharmaceuticals-B also said it has completed commercial-scale 2,000-litre bioreactor scale-up production of the antigen components and will continue to assess mid-stage and late-stage development plans as well as potential international collaboration opportunities.
