PeckShield said the crypto industry suffered 50 major hacking incidents in August 2026, up 67% from July, while losses fell 49.5% to $136.3 million. Tectonicfi accounted for about $74 million of the losses, and only about $6 million was transferred out after Cronos paused its network. According to Odaily, digital asset security company AEREDIUM has launched AERSeal, which is designed to replace the single private key used to control privileged smart contract functions with threshold signatures requiring multiple authorizations.
AERSeal stores key shares in hardware-certified secure enclaves and supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine and compatible chains. According to Odaily, the product does not reconstruct a full private key and instead generates signatures through the CGGMP24 threshold signature protocol. AEREDIUM founder and CEO Albert Dadon said the product can transfer minting and upgrade permissions to threshold keys and use on-chain verification to confirm completion of the transfer. Customers can also independently verify the assigned threshold keys.
