Kalshi Seeks Approval for FX and Interest Rate Perpetual Contracts

Kalshi has submitted an application to regulators to launch perpetual contracts based on foreign exchange and interest rates, according to Andy Ross, who heads the company’s institutional business. According to Odaily, the filing was submitted on Monday and had not appeared in the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s public records system by Tuesday afternoon. The CFTC approved Kalshi to list Bitcoin perpetual contracts in May, after which the platform introduced ETH and XRP perpetual contracts. Kalshi later expanded perpetual contracts beyond crypto, filing applications in July for gold, silver and platinum contracts, and on August 18 for U.S. large-cap stock index and copper contracts. Ross said Kalshi wants to bring stocks, commodities, cryptocurrencies, fixed income and interest rates into a single trading interface. He added that the platform’s market count has risen from about 4,000 to roughly 10,000, with activity spreading from a few popular markets to a broader range of markets.
