Anthropic Wins California Lawsuit Against U.S. Defense Department

A California federal judge on Thursday ruled that the U.S. Defense Department’s designation of Anthropic as a supply-chain risk entity was unlawful retaliation. According to Sina Finance, the ruling said the designation is typically used against hostile countries. Anthropic said it welcomed the court’s decision and remained committed to productive cooperation with the government on using artificial intelligence for national security. The company still faces another lawsuit in the Washington appeals court, and the U.S. government may also appeal the California ruling.
