AI Demand Strengthens as Malaysia Semiconductor Chief Raises Electronics Export Forecast

According to Jin10, Wong Siew Hai, president of the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association, raised this year's forecast for the country's electrical and electronic product exports to more than 900 billion ringgit ($223 billion), as demand driven by the global artificial intelligence boom exceeded earlier expectations. He said Malaysia's technology product exports rose 44% year on year to about 564 billion ringgit in the first seven months of 2026, accounting for about 48% of the country's total exports, with semiconductors making up nearly three-quarters of that category.
