Johnson & Johnson's Ottava gets FDA approval; Goldman launches private-company investing platform

According to CNBC, Johnson & Johnson's Ottava robotic surgical system was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for multiple general procedures, and the stock rose 2% after the decision came months earlier than expected. The approval allows Ottava to enter the robotic surgery market, where Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci systems have long dominated. Goldman Sachs also rolled out an alternative investments platform for wealthy clients and family offices that lets them take stakes in individual private companies rather than only in private equity funds. The platform is designed to let investors buy in before a potential initial public offering and comes as Goldman seeks to expand its asset and wealth management business. The note also said stocks were mixed on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 roughly flat in late-afternoon trading, the Nasdaq modestly weaker and Nvidia up about 3%.
