Warren Buffett: I Led Berkshire's Alphabet Investment

Warren Buffett said on Wednesday that he was the driving force behind Berkshire Hathaway's large investment in Alphabet. According to Jin10, Buffett stated in an interview with CNBC, "I initiated it. The trick to life—and I mean the trick to investing—is finding businesses that can achieve high returns on capital over the long term." Berkshire first disclosed its stake in Alphabet in the third quarter of 2025 and has since significantly increased its position. Last month, the conglomerate added another $10 billion through private share purchases. Although Buffett stepped down as Berkshire's CEO earlier this year, he remains chairman. He emphasized close collaboration with current CEO Greg Abel. "I wouldn't do anything he doesn't approve of, and he wouldn't do anything I don't approve of," Buffett said.
