Greer: Europe Must Take Concrete Actions to Rein In Enforcement Against U.S. Tech

According to Axios, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Tuesday that Europe must take "concrete actions" to rein in its enforcement of laws that disproportionately hit American tech companies, asserting that the U.S. will not let Europe control the global regulation of American firms. Greer criticized EU enforcement as having "gone wild" and objected to regulations that only apply based on revenue thresholds, which he said disproportionately capture U.S. companies. The EU has ramped up antitrust enforcement, leading to fines for Apple, Meta, and Alphabet, and European countries have discussed digital services taxes. President Trump previously threatened a 100% tariff on goods from countries imposing such taxes.
