SlowMist founder Yu Xian has advised users of the desktop version of Telegram to enable Passcode Lock and to remember the passcode, noting that forgetting it may require logging back into Telegram. According to Odaily, Yu said the passcode is mainly used to unlock Telegram for local use and to load sensitive local data, such as identity-related information. He added that setting an app lock can help protect local data and reduce the risk of information theft or account takeover if a device is physically accessed or infected with malware.
