Samsung Electronics is becoming a core manufacturing base for global big tech companies developing in-house AI application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), with its long-term backlog of orders expected to approach 50 trillion won, according to Jiemian News. Meta is said to be advancing cooperation with Samsung’s foundry business to design and produce next-generation ASICs worth more than 10 trillion won. Meta’s in-house AI accelerator, MTIA, has reportedly selected Samsung as a partner and plans to mass-produce hundreds of thousands of units using Samsung’s 2-nanometer process. US AI company Anthropic is also evaluating developing chips using Samsung’s 2-nanometer technology, the report said.
