Counterpoint Research said Apple’s expected entry into the foldable smartphone market is likely to push prices higher by drawing consumer attention toward the premium segment and boosting demand for advanced software and productivity tools.
According to Jin10, the research firm said Apple’s participation was one factor behind its expectation that the global average selling price of foldable phones will jump 18% this year.
Counterpoint added that while competition has been lowering prices for budget clamshell-style foldables—narrowing the price gap with high-end slab smartphones—demand for larger and more expensive book-style foldable models is surging.
