Spain’s CNMV Says Crypto Firms Without MiCA License Must Exit EU Market After June Deadline

Spain’s securities regulator will not grant extensions or exemptions to crypto companies that fail to obtain an EU Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license by the end of June, CNMV Chair Carlos San Basilio said. According to ChainCatcher, citing a Reuters report, San Basilio said large platforms that are not licensed must withdraw from the EU market in line with the rules. He said regulators are maintaining close communication with unauthorized firms, focusing on their exit plans and arrangements for transferring client assets to protect investors. San Basilio also warned that investors who initiate new trades on unauthorized platforms will no longer be protected under the MiCA framework.
