Illinois Gov. Pritzker Signs Digital Asset Tax Bill, Crypto Council Opposes Measure

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has signed a digital asset tax bill, drawing opposition from the Crypto Council for Innovation. According to ChainCatcher, the Crypto Council for Innovation said the law would create what it described as the most punitive digital asset tax regime in the United States and impose a disproportionate tax burden on Illinois residents who use digital assets. The group said it strongly opposes the measure, warning it could push innovators and developers to leave the state, and said it has issued a formal letter objecting to the bill.
