Trezor Executive Says Spot Bitcoin ETFs Could Undermine Self-Custody Principles

Trezor Chief Commercial Officer Danny Sanders said relying on spot Bitcoin ETFs instead of self-custody would weaken Bitcoin’s core principles. According to NS3.AI, Sanders said only about 10% of the estimated 600 million crypto users self-custody their assets. Sanders added that around 12–13 million users use hardware wallets, highlighting what he described as limited adoption of self-custody tools compared with broader crypto participation.
