Polymarket has listed a prediction market event asking whether Zcash’s Orchard privacy pool has been confirmed to have been exploited.
According to Odaily, on June 4, the Zcash core development team said it deployed an emergency network upgrade to fix a serious cryptographic vulnerability in the Orchard privacy pool that could allow an attacker to mint unlimited ZEC.
The report said the vulnerability has a characteristic that makes it impossible to cryptographically prove whether it was exploited in the past. Following this, independent support organization Shielded Labs proposed on June 5 that the NU7 upgrade in late July deploy a new privacy pool and apply strict “Turnstile-accounting” audits to tokens exiting Orchard to check for counterfeit tokens.
Under the prediction event’s settlement rules, the market will resolve to YES if, before December 31, 2026, an official source or major credible media confirms the vulnerability was effectively exploited on mainnet prior to being fixed.
