Spain Blocks Polymarket and Kalshi for Unlicensed Operations

Spain has initiated disciplinary proceedings against prediction market platforms Polymarket and Kalshi, ordering internet service providers to block access due to their operation without the necessary licenses under Spanish gambling law. According to CoinDesk, the Directorate General for Gambling Regulation (DGOJ) cited a lack of safeguards for minors and self-excluded gamblers as reasons for the action. This move aligns Spain with other countries like Indonesia and India, which have also restricted these platforms. The precautionary measures will remain while the cases proceed, expected to last three to four months.
