Citi Warns of Quantum Computing Threat to Bitcoin Security

Citi has issued a warning regarding the potential security risks posed by advancements in quantum computing to the cryptocurrency sector. According to NS3.AI, the bank highlighted that between 6.5 and 6.9 million BTC, valued at approximately $450 billion, are linked to public keys that are already exposed. Analyst Alex Saunders noted that Bitcoin is particularly vulnerable compared to Ethereum. This is attributed to Bitcoin's conservative governance, which may delay necessary protocol upgrades to counteract such threats.
