Supermicro Stock Drops 27% Following Charges Against Co-Founder in Smuggling Scheme

Supermicro's stock experienced a significant decline of 27% on Friday. According to NS3.AI, this drop followed charges by U.S. prosecutors against co-founder Yih-Shyan "Wally" Liaw, who is accused of involvement in a scheme to illegally export $2.5 billion worth of Nvidia AI chip servers to China. In response to the allegations, Supermicro has placed Liaw and another employee on leave and terminated a contractor.
